Aventurine

Aventurine is a metamorphic rock, a quartzite containing platelike crystals of other minerals. A Chalcedony containing small platy mineral inclusions of fushsite mica. Inclusions of hematite give a reddish or grayish sparkle. Deposits are found at an ancient sea port of Marmara, In Asia Minor. An active trading center for precious stones of various types and origins. Please do not confuse with a red variety of albite, which is a feldspar Aventurine.
