Alexandrite

Black Star’s alexandrite is a synthetic corundum. Flux grown alexandrite is difficult to identify because of the inclusions of undissolved flux that look natural. Crystals can be grown directly from the molten solvent, and compounds superheated. The color can be convincing. Alexandrite is one of the rarest of the color change gemstones. True Alexandrite is a chrysoberyl containing iron, titanium, and also chromium as a major impurity. These elements account for the color change.
